Introduction to the medical education blog

Updated: Jul 25, 2023

Greetings all!

We are Nick Hoyt and Aaron Marcum, honored to have recently taken on the roles of Directors of Medical Education and Research at Healing Hearts Vietnam. Our experiences as doctors in training have encouraged us to become passionate advocates for accessible healthcare and overall well-being around the world, leading to our involvement with Healing Hearts Vietnam. Coordinating the sponsorship of life-saving heart surgeries in a foreign country is a formidable endeavor, inevitably accompanied by medical and public health complexities. However, our hope is that we can act as your guides to better understanding these complexities and the importance of the work being done by Healing Hearts Vietnam. To date, our organization has helped sponsor over 460 life-saving surgeries, but as we hope to show you, the need is still great!

With this introduction in mind, it is with great excitement that we present to you our new Medical Education blog—a monthly posting that serves multiple purposes: 1) keeping supporters up to date on our endeavors, 2) increasing our organizational transparency by simplifying the medical and public health complexities involved with sponsoring life-saving surgeries, and 3) demonstrating the need for your continued support in order to fulfill our mission: ensuring every needy Vietnamese child and their family can receive the life-saving healthcare they deserve. Join us as we dive into the depths of medical knowledge, untangle the threads of public health challenges, and unravel the stories of resilience and hope that arise from our collective efforts. Together, we can empower and inspire, fostering a community dedicated to transforming lives, one heart at a time. Check below for a list of posts coming soon, and if there is anything specific you want us to discuss, please let us know!

Thanks for reading!

Nick and Aaron
