Philip Forsberg
Director of Donor Programs

Phil grew up in Long Island, New York and graduated from Clarkson University in 1982 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering. He was commissioned in the US Army upon his graduation and married Ellen Anne in that same year. Phil earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration in 1998 from Troy University with a concentration in public policy and administrative law. Phil retired in 2011 after 29 years of commissioned service in the US Army, and worked as an airline pilot until 2019.  Flying cargo, Phil has flown around the world more than 200 times.

Being interested in his nephew’s (Dr. Tom Forsberg) work, Phil visited Vietnam for the first time in 2020, and observed the work of Healing Hearts Vietnam in Hanoi and Da Nang. After two subsequent trips to Vietnam with the HHV team, and recognizing the need for organized fundraising to meet the growing need for life-saving surgeries, he agreed to accept the role of Director of Donor Programs.

In addition to his role with Healing Hearts Vietnam, Phil continues to serve as a veteran service officer with his local chapter of Disabled American Veterans, where he works with US military veterans, helping them receive the benefits they have earned through their service. He also holds an active real estate license in Georgia.

Phil and Ellen Anne have 5 children and reside in Kennesaw, Georgia.
