Nicholas Hoyt, MD
Director of Medical Education
Nick grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia and recently graduated with distinction from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. During medical school, he completed a global health elective at the Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil, an experience that deepened his commitment to global health and expanding access to care in underserved communities.
His connection to Healing Hearts Vietnam solidified during his undergraduate years at the College of William & Mary, where he earned a B.S. in the Medical Humanities. There, he co-founded and served as President of the first university chapter of HHV. The group met regularly to raise awareness about barriers to care in Vietnam and hosted events like a campus dance-off and charity golf tournament—raising funds to support up to 10 life-saving surgeries.
Since then, Nicholas has joined two trips to Vietnam to support medical screening, outreach clinics, patient wellness and visitation, and media development. He now serves as Director of Medical Education for Healing Hearts Vietnam, helping make the clinical and public health aspects of our work more understandable and accessible to our supporters and volunteers.
Nicholas recently married his wife, Skylar, whom he met on the first day of medical school. The two recently couples matched to Brown at Rhode Island Hospital—Skylar is training in anesthesiology, and Nicholas is pursuing diagnostic radiology. They’re currently living just outside of Boston while Nicholas completes his preliminary medicine year at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Outside of medicine, Nicholas loves spending time with family and friends, playing golf, being outdoors, and taking photos whenever he can.
